Talking about, or hearing about the black box warning for SSRI (SRI) medications in kids and adolescents can be really intimidating. Parents worry about starting their children on a medication that could potentially increase suicidal thoughts or behaviors and practitioners sometimes struggle with how to cover the subject. In this video I hope to provide some answers to both groups. I hope that patients and family can get a better, deeper understanding of the risks and benefits, and that practitioners can also be comfortable with both prescribing and talking about these very useful medications.
